Biography

J. DeRuosi
Janelle DeRuosi is a hobbyist photographer located in Escalon, California (Central Valley Region).  She has always loved photography, as well as every other form of art, and has taken pictures at every opportunity since her parents first let her hold a camera. While she will always have respect for film, she loves the freedom to grow as a photographer that shooting digital has allowed her.  She continually seeks opportunities to learn more about photography and enjoys sharing and discussing what she has learned with others.  She is involved with several local camera clubs.

Janelle is happiest when she is creating.  When she was younger she used her photographs as inspiration and reference for drawing and painting.  She now focuses on photography as her primary medium.  When she has time, she still draws, paints, dabbles in graphic art, and even interior design.  Someday, perhaps, she'll consider herself a professional photographer.  For now she is satisfied just to be able to create something that she and others can enjoy.

Most weekends Janelle can be found exploring and photographing California with her husband in tow.  Fortunately, this gives him the opportunity to pursue his hobby--geocaching.

Accomplishments

Janelle has received numerous awards over from photography competitions such as the Delicato Vineyards Photography Show, the Lodi Grape Festival, the San Joaquin County Fair, and the Manteca Camera Club Contest & Show.

A number of Janelle's 2010 Color the Skies Hot Air Balloon Festival images have been used on the Color the Skies website over the past few years.  Also, Janelle's festival photos will be on display in the waiting rooms in the new wing at Children's Hospital Central California starting in 2012.
